W.A. Gaines

Here are two examples of this popular fifth. For the supposed numbers of specimens out there, you sure do not see them all that often available for collectors. There have only been a few at auction in the past 10 years, and I cannot remember the last time I saw one for sale at a bottle show. These bottles have a lot going for them in my opinion, with tons of embossing. They also have "sole agents" and "private stock" embossed.

The dark chocolate was recently unearthed from a western state, and the nice green example was found in Virginia City, Nev. in the 1970s.

  1. M.E.,looks to me like you have set up a bottle manufacturing facility,You need to use a darker batch of green glass for your next bottle,Would like to see what a dark green golden plantation would look like!note :( change the 1970 nev. thing it would make it more real)...nice bottle!...robgarb.

  2. love those green ones, got a green circle cutter here at home, but like the e-bay bottles its mint, just needs a top.most green bottles are the earlier ones.the green teakettles and other picture whiskeys are what I like the best, but any whiskey in green is what I hope I dig next.old bumstead.

  4. Anyone out there have any off colors of bear whiskeys to show us? I dug a real light one once, but the top looked like the lillental distillers fifths, and not what I like, but next to my three others it looked O.K. dark amber, yellow, orange etc.so color runs are great.like the j.f.'s and circle cutters lets see some pictures. At the up in comeing show with the J.F's some pictures would be great to see, cant make it to the shows.
